Dorset, Devon and Cornwall Women’s Community ServiceOpen is a successful service with an excellent reputation for offering trauma-informed specialist support to women in the criminal justice system across Dorset, Devon and Cornwall. Developed by The Women’s Centre Cornwall, Open provides a gender specific, holistic service in Dorset, Devon & Cornwall, and accepting referrals from the Probation Service. The service offers practical and emotional support, advocacy, safety planning and trauma-informed support on sexual violence, domestic violence and childhood sexual abuse. We work in partnership with Probation and other agencies. Open is a safe and confidential space for women who have been convicted of an offence to explore any issues she feels are applicable to her in her journey towards a life free from offending.It is delivered by The Women’s Centre Cornwall which is run by women, for women, and aims to empower and enable all women and girls to gain the health and well-being and confidence and skills to achieve their potential and become stronger and more independent.Qualifications and ExperienceIt is desirable to have a relevant degree and/or recognised professional qualification in social care or a related field and/or accredited Domestic Abuse training. However at least one year’s experience of direct work with women with complex needs and/or survivors of domestic abuse and/or sexual violence. The ability to undertake risk assessments, safety planning and providing support and targeted intervention is equally relevant. Knowledge of the criminal justice system is very advantageous.Full driving license and the ability to travel is essential. Work with the women is carried out by phone and in person, mainly in the Exeter, mid and East Devon area but travel to some other areas of Devon County may be required.Main Purpose of the JobTo deliver structured and targeted interventions to comply with the requirements of Open’s Women’s Rehabilitation Activity Requirement (RAR) as sentenced by the courts and to liaise with Offender Managers.To establish strong working relationships with identified partners including probation, courts, police, prisons to ensure the development of effective service provision to women offenders. To deliver a range of interventions, as part of a community sentence, to meet individual needs, aiming to prevent reoffending and to empower each woman. Plus, the development of supportive local relationships with a range of statutory and voluntary service providers to ensure women can receive on-going individual packages of support required to reduce risk and encourage desistance from offending.In particular, to work with the referred women to enhance their understanding of the dynamics of domestic abuse and sexual violence and to support them to develop strategies to reduce the harm caused by the abuse.To provide targeted support to the women referred. This will include structured assessment of risk and support needs and, in conjunction with women, the development and implementation of action plans to address the causes offending, reducing the risk of re-offending and meeting needs identified and writing final reports once a woman completes her community sentence.Responsibilities of the Job 1. To establish on-going professional working relationships with the Probation teams in Dorset Devon and Cornwall and other key partner agencies.2. To manage a caseload and to maintain up to date records and case files in respect of all cases.3. To support the implementation of the Women’s RAR to provide an alternative to short custodial sentences and also contribute to the developments of diversion packages from court.4. To assess all referrals within agreed timescales and provide support and/or onward referral if appropriate based on the individual risk and needs profile.5. To undertake ACPO DASH risk assessment and safety planning with women engaging with the service.6. To design and implement an individual action plan, with each woman who has offended, to meet her needs and address the causes of offending to reduce the risk of re-offending.7. To develop networks of local agencies (voluntary and statutory) to support the provision of targeted resources to assist the women to move away from an offending lifestyle8. To provide information and advocacy regarding legal remedies, civil and criminal legal processes, housing options and benefits as required.9. Location: Exeter BasedA unique opportunity has arisen whereby we are looking to appoint a dedicated and professional SEND Teaching Assistant to start late August 2023. You will work as part of the Special Education Needs and Disability (SEND) team to support those children with specific needs. You will need to be able to demonstrate an excellent level of understanding of children will specific needs (both mental and physical) and how they can be best supported to ensure they thrive in mainstream education. You will be working within a busy and dynamic teaching environment and will need to have a passion and commitment to wanting our young children to develop a life-long love of learning by being a positive and supportive role model.Within this role, you will be based in the first instance at Broadclyst Primary School and provide dedicated 1:1 support for children with complex and specific needs in EYFS. Your role will be varied but will require you to deliver both physical care and educational support to individual children. This may include intimate care with physiotherapy, personal hygiene and toileting needs and help with feeding and drinking. Where required you will need to be responsible for the administration of medicines or injections. There is also a need for you to safely move children from their wheelchair. There will be training provide to ensure safe handling and moving children, around implementing the care plans, delivering physiotherapy exercises, with speech and language and phonics programmes. Much of the required training will occur in the final week of August. You will also assist the teaching staff in the preparation of the learning environment, liaising with parents, maintaining pupil records, and carrying out a range of administrative tasks to support the teaching staff. Every child has their own digital device, and you will be required to use digital technologies and software to support as part of the different intervention programmes that you will be part of the delivery. Good experience of working with children and relevant qualifications are required.The school offers an exciting and enriched curriculum through a wide range of activities, both within the classroom but also through the wider environment. Whilst your primary focus will be on supporting individual children to be able to access this curriculum to ensure that they make excellent progress. This will involve you working with teachers and the SENDCo to adapt the curriculum the broad and balanced curriculum offer to meet the individual needs including the teaching of reading, involvement in PE and Games sessions, going on school trips and residentials and taking responsibility for the mentoring and tutoring of these individual children. We provide a full programme of extra-curricular activities, outdoor learning programmes, sporting opportunities, dedicated art and science rooms, a library service and 1:1 digital devices for every pupil.You will also be involved in leading playtime activities with children and supporting within the family dining service where older children serve young children each lunch time.This position is fixed term (based on the needs of the specific child) for 39 weeks per annum (38 weeks term time, plus 1 week non pupil days). The hours are Monday to Friday 8:30am to 3.30pm each day. The full-time equivalent salary for this role is in the region of £21,000. However, the actual salary based on the hours and weeks worked will commence in the region of £15,500 per annum. We are wishing to recruit a Personal Assistant to support our Head of Schools to help them manage their varied and demanding schedule in leading and supporting the schools within the Trust. You will work closely with others within and outside of the Trust to ensure delivery dates are met, meetings are organised and provide administrative support as necessary for such things as setting agendas, recording minutes, and providing presentation materials or reports. You will also have a significant input into supporting our HR processes. You will be part of a wider team of administrators and assistants within the organisation and will need to help coordinate the priorities for the senior leadership team within the Trust. You will also liaise with parents and help to escalate their queries when necessary. You will need to be extremely personable and have excellent communication skills both on the telephone and face to face. We need an inspiring and dedicated team member who will bring additional flair and efficiency to our highly regarded team. We want someone who will bring organisation skills to the role as well as having a liking for accuracy, planning, analysis, and reporting. It is essential that the postholders have excellent and demonstrable competency in the use of IT, specifically in the use of Microsoft365 including up-to-date experience in the use of Microsoft Teams, Outlook, OneNote, and Excel. You must have a great work ethic and a “get the job done” attitude. Some experience of fulfilling HR processes would be advantageous.The role is a permanent role (Exeter based), 40 weeks (term time, plus availability for our 5 non-pupil days and 5 days school holiday working). 8.30am to 5.00pm with a 30-minute lunch break.
