About ‘Our Streets’
‘Our Streets’ is a youth outreach project working across North Devon and Torridge to engage young people aged 11–17 years who are at risk of, or currently involved in, anti-social and violent behaviours. The project recognises that for many young people, the streets are where they feel most visible, connected, and safe among their peers. In the absence of universal youth provision, informal street-based networks have become primary spaces of belonging, yet these can sometimes reinforce harmful behaviors.
Working within Encompass Southwest’s trauma-informed framework and Human Learning Systems approach, the postholder will build trusted relationships with young people in their own communities, helping them identify positive opportunities, strengthen resilience and improve their safety and wellbeing.
The role combines frontline outreach with leadership responsibilities, supporting the development of high-quality outreach practice, building effective partnerships, promoting youth voice and contributing to wider system change through learning and collaboration.
