Crediton Town Council (CTC) is seeking a Youth & Community Support Worker Apprentice to join Crediton Youth Service (CYS). This is an exciting opportunity for someone with experience working with young people who is ready to develop their career and work towards becoming a qualified Youth & Community Worker through a degree apprenticeship.
Working alongside our Lead Youth Worker, you will help deliver creative, project-based youth work that supports young people aged 10 to 19 and encourages them to play an active role in their community.
About Us
CYS was established by CTC to provide high-quality youth work opportunities for local young people. Our work includes community projects, outreach activities, detached youth work, youth participation initiatives, sustainability projects and a Youth Council.
Our vision is to help young people thrive, develop new skills, influence local decision-making and become active members of their community.
The Role
As a Youth & Community Support Worker Apprentice, you will:
- Build positive relationships with young people and community members
- Support the planning and delivery of youth activities, projects and events
- Encourage young people's participation, leadership and decision-making
- Assist with outreach, detached youth work and school-based activities
- Help promote Crediton Youth Service through community engagement and social media
- Contribute to fundraising initiatives and community events
- Complete a Degree Apprenticeship in Youth & Community Work
What We're Looking For
Essential requirements include:
- GCSE (or equivalent) at C/4 or above for English. Good mathematical understanding (demonstrable through interview process).
- A Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) (Expected grades if A level results are due in Summer 2026)
- At least 12 months' experience working with young people in youth work settings
- Good communication, organisational and IT skills
- Knowledge of youth work principles and commitment to young people's participation
- Ability to work flexibly as part of a team
- Commitment to securing a place on the BA (JNC) Youth & Community Work Degree at Plymouth Marjon University.
