Tutors Required Throughout Devon
Team Educate works in close partnership with Devon Virtual School. Devon County Council and also local schools and has recently been awarded the latest tuition contract. As a result, we are looking to recruit passionate and dedicated teachers and tutors to deliver 1:1 tuition to children and young people in care across Devon.
We offer a range of flexible tutoring opportunities, including both face-to-face and online tuition, depending on the needs of each young person. We will always do our best to accommodate your preferred locations, availability and teaching style.
As a tutor, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, personalised lessons that meet the individual needs of each learner. Many of the young people we support are unable to access mainstream education for a variety of reasons, and your role will be vital in helping them re-engage with learning and achieve positive outcomes.
You will work closely with schools, carers, social workers and other professionals, with ongoing support from Team Educate throughout each placement. Tuition may take place in a school, alternative provision, children's home, community venue (such as a library), the pupil's home, or online via Microsoft Teams or Zoom.
We are currently recruiting qualified teachers and tutors throughout Devon, with an especially high demand in Exeter, Kingsteignton and Newton Abbot. Whether you're looking for a few hours each week or a full timetable, we can offer flexible opportunities to suit your availability.
Lessons are typically between 1 and 3 hours in length, with opportunities to build a full working week by supporting multiple pupils. Sessions are available during the school day, after school and in the evenings, with many of our tutors working 30+ hours per week.
About the Role
- Flexible hours available (1-30+ hours per week)

- Deliver personalised lessons in core subjects to bridge gaps in learning
- Support pupils both academically and emotionally
- Work with children and young people with a range of SEND and SEMH needs
- Long-term, ongoing tutoring assignments
- Full-time and part-time opportunities available (term time only)

To be eligible, you will need:
- Experience working in schools or as a tutor
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a recognised teaching degree
- Strong subject knowledge, particularly in Maths, English and/or Science
- The right to work in the UK
- An Enhanced DBS Certificate registered on the Update Service (or be willing to obtain one)
- Two professional references that can be contacted
