A rare opportunity has become available for a Post-16 Teaching Assistant. Our Post-16 provision supports students with severe and profound learning difficulties, helping them prepare for adulthood through suitable accreditation, practical life skills and access to community facilities. In this role, you will lead small learning groups, assist the class teacher with planning and delivering lessons and support colleagues across the class team. This varied and active position offers opportunities to develop your skills while sharing your own interests and strengths.
What skills and experience we are looking for:
• A sound knowledge and understanding of special educational needs and disabilities, demonstrating the ability to adapt and differentiate teaching approaches to cater for a diverse range of needs.
• Experience of working with children, particularly within a special educational setting would be desirable.
• Good basic Maths and English skills, with the ability to support learning in these areas through practical and engaging methods.
• A professional approach, demonstrating empathy, patience and resilience when supporting students.
• Creativity in developing and delivering learning activities that make learning enjoyable, accessible and meaningful for all students.
• A commitment to equal opportunities, ensuring that all students feel included and valued in the learning environment.
• A dedication to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young adults, with a clear understanding of policies and procedures related to safeguarding.
