Required from 1st September 2022.
This post is temporary to cover maternity leave (due to end Dec 2022)
The Directors of Uffculme Academy Trust are seeking to appoint a temporary Teacher of Drama to join our Outstanding school from September 2022. This vacancy would be particularly suitable for an EQT, but RQTs and more experienced teachers are also welcome to apply.
Uffculme is a flourishing, popular, high performing School located on the beautiful Devon/Somerset border with easy motorway access to the regional centres of Taunton and Exeter. The February 2014 OfSTED inspection classed the School as ‘Outstanding’. Uffculme is fully comprehensive and committed to inclusion. In 2019 (the last year when league tables were issued) our Progress 8 score was +0.7 with disadvantaged students achieving +0.47, maintaining our track-record as being one of the highest performing non-selective schools in the country. Consequently, we have received many national awards and accolades over recent times in recognition of the quality of the education provided here at Uffculme.
Within this context, Drama is one of the flagship departments with a strong track record of achievement, and good levels of take up at KS4, and we are keen to build on this for the future. The facilities are excellent and there is significant buy-in to the subject by students as evidenced by the large numbers that take up the many extra-curricular opportunities offered by the team.
Whilst our examination results speak for themselves, they don’t tell the whole story. They are based on a culture of high expectations; exceptional levels of student participation and active involvement in the life of the school; and great relationships between staff and students. We make no apologies for wanting it all as a school: happy staff, happy students, outstanding results, amazing opportunities, and a culture which rewards and values success in all its forms.
The successful candidate will be, or have the potential to be, an outstanding teacher who inspires a love of drama and the performing arts in your students and who is able to deliver the exceptional results which we have come to expect from our students. A full contribution to our extensive extra-curricular programme will be expected. In return we can offer you support from an excellent team of colleagues where morale is high, fantastic facilities and young people who genuinely want to learn.
If this sounds like the sort of school you would like to be a part of, and you would like to know more, please do get in touch.
