Could you help secure the future of some of England’s rarest and most fascinating insects?
Devon Wildlife Trust is seeking a motivated and organised Species Recovery Project Officer to help deliver an exciting programme focused on conserving the narrow-headed ant and erratic ant across Devon’s heathlands. Working across key sites in the Bovey Basin, you will play a hands-on role in restoring habitats, coordinating surveys, and supporting innovative species recovery work.
This is a varied, practical role combining fieldwork, partnership working and project coordination. You will help plan and deliver habitat management, support monitoring and ecological surveys, and work closely with colleagues, partners and volunteers to achieve meaningful conservation outcomes. The post will lead on the development of long-term Species Recovery Plans, ensuring a lasting legacy for these threatened species.
We’re looking for someone with strong organisational skills, a collaborative approach, and experience of working in outdoor or conservation settings. A passion for nature recovery and the ability to coordinate work across multiple sites are essential.
In return, you’ll play a key role in shaping nature recovery, helping to deliver lasting outcomes for some of England’s rarest species.
This is a part-time (22.5 hours per week) fixed term appointment until 31 March 2029, based at Woodah Farm, Doddiscombsleigh.
We welcome candidates of all backgrounds and abilities who meet the essential criteria for this role. To achieve our vision, we need more people, and more diverse people, on nature’s side. We are committed to developing an inclusive and diverse organisation, in which everyone feels supported, valued, and able to be their full selves.
