INTERNAL ONLY (DCC Employees Only)
Are you an experienced Customer or Stakeholder Liaison Officer looking to take the next step in your career?
Do you enjoy leading teams to build positive relationships and lead meaningful engagement with communities and stakeholders?
If so, Devon County Council could be the perfect fit. We are expanding our Highways Intelligence Group and are looking for a Senior Stakeholder Relations Officer who will play a key role in shaping and leading how we connect with our customers.
Our Highways Intelligence Group is at the heart of how we communicate and share information about vital highway schemes. The team plays a crucial role in ensuring works are well-coordinated, minimising disruption and improving the experience for our communities.
What will you be doing?
This is an exciting opportunity to lead and develop a team, supporting them to deliver high-quality stakeholder engagement across a wide range of construction projects. You will work closely with Engineers and Technicians who are passionate about delivering infrastructure improvements, helping to ensure our communications are clear, proactive and effective.
You will:
- Lead a team, providing guidance, support and direction
- Work collaboratively with a Principal Engineer and wider operational teams
- Use your expertise to engage confidently with a broad range of stakeholders – from County Councillors to residents, businesses and community groups
- Drive continuous improvement in how we communicate and engage
What projects will you support?
You’ll be involved in a diverse and varied portfolio of work, ranging from reactive safety repairs and routine maintenance through to major infrastructure schemes. This includes projects such as new bridges, cycle routes, footways and key road improvements.
This variety offers a fantastic opportunity to broaden your experience, build relationships across Devon, and develop both your leadership and stakeholder engagement skills.
A green future
Devon County Council declared a climate emergency in 2019. Since then, decarbonisation has been high on the agenda when considering what we build and how we maintain it. The role will become an advocate to our green journey, helping stakeholders understand why we work the way we do to work towards our net zero ambitions.
What benefits will I get?
You’ll get a competitive salary, plus a range of benefits that include:
- Experience and opportunity also given for career progression to Senior Management roles;
- 26 days annual leave increasing to 31;
- Additional leave increase after 5 years (and up to 20yrs);
- Training to support your career goals;
- Mentor support to gain professional qualifications;
- Flexible hours with the ability to accrue up to an additional 24 flex leave days per year;
- Time off for bank holidays – typically 8 per year;
- Other benefits include Vivup employee benefits, Stagecoach SW discounts and cycle to work scheme;
- A generous pension scheme.
Where will I be based?
Hybrid working is available to all. Our main office is in Great Moor House, Exeter. Although this role will focus on Exeter and East Devon, our engineering projects can be based across Devon.
