The Homes for Children Team is seeking a Provider Relations and Individual Contracts Support Officer to undertake the home finding activity for children and young people in the care of Devon County Council.
What you'll be doing
You will be working in a team that is dedicated to finding homes for children and young people in care across Devon.
This will mean that:
- You will have strong communication skills, both written and verbally, with the ability to build positive working relationships and effectively challenge when needed.
- You will be organised and methodical in your approach to finding homes for children, with the ability to multi-task and effectively prioritise competing demands to ensure that the right home is found in line with the child’s plan and outcomes.
- You will liaise with various internal teams, from social work teams, Fostering Devon, procurement, commissioning, and finance.
- You will also need to be able to keep accurate records of your work and may be asked to produce court statements to demonstrate the activity that has been undertaken to find a child or young person a home.
- You will work well under pressure, and have the ability to be solution focused.
- You will develop a good understanding of Devon’s sufficiency and difference between different types of social care settings for children in care and care leavers. You will have an understanding of where the gaps are in the market and share information with commissioners.
- You will undertake individual placement cost negotiation to ensure value for money against social care budgets.
- You will develop an understand of relational commissioning and support the work to develop Devon County Council commissioning arrangements and market development.
