The Role
We are seeking a committed team player to join us as a Project Support Assistant. This is a vital role in organising, administrating, and supporting schools and athlete mentors to deliver the programme, which is aimed at young people who are most at risk of becoming not engaged in education, employment, or training (NEET).
This rare opportunity will develop transferable skills in school support, event administration, customer service and data management. You will be keen to work within a team and deliver excellent results for young people in the local area. This is a fabulous opportunity to learn and build relationships with Athlete Mentors, local organisations, and to support the Set for Success school network in your locality.
You will work closely with passionate professionals and experience first-hand the difference sport, physical activity, and leadership can make. You will also have the opportunity of a structured programme of personal development support provided.
The role will be mainly office based at the Active Devon offices at Haven Banks in Exeter, and there will be a requirement to travel to schools involved in the Set for Success programme.
What you’ll be doing
- Supporting Athlete Mentors in delivering a youth leadership programme in selected schools
- Assisting with school engagement, event planning, and customer service
- Managing data and helping to ensure smooth delivery of the Set for Success initiative in your local area
- Developing your leadership and organisational skills in a real-world environment
- Providing support to the Active Devon Early Life team on wider projects

Flexible hours and working pattern
We understand that flexibility is important to people in today’s busy world, and we value flexibility too. Within our overall requirements we have flexibility to make a part-time or full appointment. Therefore, we welcome applications from people seeking roles between 30 and 37 hours (i.e. full time) per week.
We also have flexibility to offer an annual working pattern that allows hours to be weighted differently between school term and non-term times. If you have specific preferences, we welcome the opportunity to discuss them during the recruitment process. Flexibility is genuinely valued, and we always try to accommodate the preferences of those applying for part time roles where possible.
