Partnerships Officer (Outdoor Activity)
- Torbay, Devon
- Full Time
- £30,518 - £33,699 per annum

Fixed Term until 30th of April 2027
Location: Torbay
This opportunity has been created through an exciting new collaborative partnership between The Outdoor Partnership, Active Devon and Torbay Council (Torbay on the Move). Together, we are seeking an exceptional, dynamic individual who will be part of Active Devon’s local team, working in Torbay communities to unlock the ability of movement to change lives.
About us…
Active Devon is a community focussed, not for profit organisation with a vision of everyone in Devon active for life. We know the benefits of being active are life changing, helping to reduce inequalities and delivering huge value in our communities. We hope that you will want to join us in making movement a positive part of people’s lives, whatever their background.
We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, motivated and values-driven and has a passion for the benefits of being active in the outdoors. This exciting role will help more people enjoy the outdoors and be active for life, by developing partnerships, supporting local groups, and enabling opportunities that work for everyone.
What you’ll be doing…
You’ll work in and with Torbay’s local communities, building trusted relationships with people, groups, and organisations.
The role will:
- Develop and support outdoor activity opportunities that meet local needs, focusing on those who face the greatest barriers to participation.
- Work with partners to create inclusive, welcoming routes into lifelong outdoor activity from taster sessions to regular participation, volunteering, training, and employment. The post holder will work closely with the Outdoor Partnership (TOP) staff team to deliver the charity’s strategy, to enhance people’s lives through outdoor activities by implementing their six core programmes https://outdoorpartnership.co.uk/our-projects.
- Support and strengthen local clubs, groups, and networks, helping them to thrive and become sustainable.
- Facilitate links between the outdoor, health, and voluntary sectors to enable social prescribing and community wellbeing programmes.
- Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion so that opportunities are accessible to everyone.
- Help identify and secure funding to sustain and grow community-led outdoor opportunities.
- Monitor and evaluate activities, capturing outcomes and sharing learning.
This is not an outdoor instruction role; it’s a community development and activation role where your success will come from enabling and supporting others to be active outdoors.
What experience you’ll need…
- Have excellent relationship building and communication skills.
- Understand the challenges and barriers that can prevent people from being active outdoors and have ideas for overcoming them.
- Have experience in community development, health, education, active lifestyles, or similar roles.
- Can manage projects from planning through to delivery and evaluation.
- Can work independently and as part of a team, with strong organisational skills.
Experience in securing funding, supporting volunteers, and working with a variety of partners would be an advantage. Lived experience of the issues facing local communities is welcomed and valued.
Additional requirements:
- Ability to travel across Torbay, Devon and occasionally nationally to fulfil the needs of the role.
- Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends.
- This role will require a DBS criminal records check.
How to apply…
Please ensure when completing your application form that you provide a supporting statement which demonstrates how you meet the essential and desirable criteria as described in the person specification of the job description. Applications may not be taken forwards if the supporting statement is not adequately completed.
Please submit a completed application by midday (12pm) on the 22nd of September 2025.
Selection interviews: Expected to take place in person on Friday, the 26th of September 2025.
