KS2 Primary Teacher (Maths Lead)
Full time/part time/job share considered
Starting September 2026 or earlier
As a result of increasing student numbers, and our Year 7 cohort for September 2026 being significantly oversubscribed, we are looking to expand our staff team at Court Fields School to include an exceptional and inspiring Primary Trained Teacher. After the successful introduction of our Primary English Lead three years ago and the significant improvement in children’s reading and comprehension, we feel it is the right time to turn our attention to children’s numeracy skills.
As a school we are relentless in achieving our goal that every child meets the expected standard for their age each year in all subjects. We are aware that many children require additional time to acquire the essential knowledge and skills of KS2 before progressing to KS3 learning. The successful candidate will deliver Maths lessons to KS3 students who have not yet met age related expectations and who require additional support to make excellent progress. In addition, this person will work alongside our Curriculum and SEND teams to provide bespoke interventions for students on a short and medium term basis.
For the right candidate there is also an opportunity to lead Numeracy across the school. We are seeking an enthusiastic and strategic Whole School Numeracy Lead to champion numeracy across our school. This role involves driving a consistent, whole school approach to mathematical skills, supporting colleagues to embed numeracy within their subject areas, and promoting a culture where numeracy is valued by all learners. The successful candidate will analyse data to identify priority areas, deliver high quality staff training, and ensure students develop the confidence and skills needed to access the full curriculum.
Court Fields’ staff and students are committed to our school, where every child, regardless of background, achieves well, feels they belong to our community and fully participates in school life, to develop character and the resilience to succeed. We are determined to continue to make a positive difference as a central part of our thriving local community, and to build on the significant development of the last few years. We are also part of the thriving Blackdown Education Partnership, which includes 6 secondary schools and 6 primary schools across Devon and Somerset.
You would be joining a thriving and passionate team, with a diverse range of subjects and pedagogical knowledge, academic interests and expertise.
We are looking for a teacher who:
- Has a passion for inclusive and adaptive teaching practice
- Is a strong practitioner with a good grasp of pedagogy
- Is committed to ensuring every child achieves their potential
- Is highly literate and numerate
- Has a sound knowledge of the KS2 and 3 National Curricula
- Is able to work alongside colleagues from different subject specialisms
- Has a good understanding of curriculum design
We would be happy to consider applications from ECTs for this post and have a robust induction program in place to support new and developing teachers.
