About Tide House
Tide House is a Residential Family Assessment Centre rated as ‘Good’ by Ofsted (August 2025). We undertake parenting assessments for up to five families placed with us, providing ‘expert evidence’ to support families, local authorities and care proceedings. Families have self-contained accommodation of 1-3 bedrooms, allowing us to support families with multiple parents and children.
Tide House utilises relational approaches to support families to care for their children in a safe and consistent way, alongside undertaking the required assessment of them, as directed by the Local Authority or Court.
The role
As IT Systems Support Officer, you will support the safe and effective running of Tide House’s IT systems. You will work closely with the IT Development and Support Manager to ensure staff have access to reliable, secure and user-friendly systems that support recording, communication, monitoring and assessment practice.
Tide House has developed its own bespoke case management system to support assessment practice, recording, oversight and operational consistency. This system has been developed in house and continues to be refined and enhanced. The IT Systems Support Officer will help ensure that this system, alongside wider operational IT systems, remains reliable, secure and effective for staff.
The role will initially involve supporting the IT Development and Support Manager with day-to-day IT tasks, troubleshooting, system maintenance and staff support. As your knowledge and confidence develops, you will be expected to take on increasing responsibility for responding to day-to-day IT issues and supporting the smooth running of our systems.
This role supports the safeguarding of children and families by helping to ensure that staff can record accurately, communicate effectively, access key systems reliably and use monitoring systems safely. You must understand the importance of confidentiality, professional boundaries and working sensitively around families living at Tide House.
Working hours will be predominantly usual office hours, with some necessary flexibility and participation in an agreed out-of-hours on-call arrangement. Some remote working may be possible, but the postholder must be able to attend Tide House promptly when required for issues that cannot be resolved remotely.
Both full-time and part-time applicants will be considered depending on experience and the needs of the service.
The successful candidate will have:
- A strong understanding of Microsoft 365 administration.
- A good practical understanding of network infrastructure, including the configuration and troubleshooting of switches, VLANs, VPNs, routers and Wi-Fi, with the ability to maintain connectivity and network stability, work safely, minimise disruption and escalate issues appropriately.
- Experience of responding to IT or helpdesk issues in a calm, practical and solution-focused way.
- Experience supporting IT hardware, including desktops, laptops, monitors, peripherals and mobile devices.
- The ability to support staff with day-to-day IT issues, including password resets, access issues, connectivity problems, damaged devices and practical troubleshooting.
- A good practical awareness of cyber security risks and controls, including multi-factor authentication, access control, patching, device security, data integrity, secure storage and the safe handling of sensitive information.
- The ability to work sensitively in an environment where highly confidential information is handled.
- A thorough and methodical approach to identifying, isolating and resolving IT issues.
- The ability to support, maintain and improve user-friendly systems that help staff work safely and effectively.
- The ability to work collaboratively with the IT Development and Support Manager, Registered Manager, Responsible Individual and wider staff team.
- A willingness to learn Tide House systems, including the in-house case management system.
- The ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical staff.
- Strong organisational skills, reliability and the ability to prioritise competing demands.
- A commitment to professional development, reflective practice and continuous service improvement.
- The ability to exercise sound judgement, respond appropriately in the moment and escalate concerns or issues when required.
- The ability to participate in an agreed out-of-hours on-call rota and respond to unforeseen critical IT, monitoring or communication issues.
- The ability to meet the practical physical demands of the role, with reasonable adjustments where required, including moving IT equipment and occasional work at height where appropriately assessed and supported.
