Are you highly organised? Do you enjoy working on your own and as part of a team?

If the answer to the above is 'yes', then this could be the job for you!
Barley Lane School are looking for an Exams Officer, 18.5 hours per week for 41 weeks per annum.
The school is located in the St Thomas area of Exeter and is a day special school. Our school provides education for up to 80 pupils, aged 7-16, who benefit from small groups and adapted learning. Although we are a small school that teaches to the national curriculum, we supplement this with nurture principles and relational practice, to build trust, emotional development and resilience with a positive climate for learning.
We embrace a "change us to change them" model. Understanding a culture of consistent adult behaviour is an essential piece of practice, when supporting children and young people with complex needs.
Our current Exams Officer is retiring and has been with the school for over 20 years and she loves her job!
To make a success of the role you will:
- Need to be able to work calmly and accurately, in a fast-paced environment. Particularly during peak exam periods.
- Have strong administrative and IT skills, preferably including experience with data systems and spreadsheets, although training will be given.
- Need to be a confident communicator with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Be flexible, reliable and able to manage competing deadlines.
Previous experience in exams administration or education is desirable, but not essential, as training will be given both initially and on-going annually.
We will offer support and guidance to help you achieve your aspirations, while you help the children achieve theirs.
Visits to the school can be arranged and the current Exams Officer would be happy to show you around.
All employees, handling personal data, must do so responsibly, securely and in line with the school's Date Protection Policy, guidance and training.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults, and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
This role requires a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
This role requires the ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.
