At The Outdoors School, learning happens beyond the classroom.
We are an Independent Special School set in a unique woodland environment, supporting learners with SEMH and ASD needs. Our approach is centred on developing the whole learner- building confidence, independence, and life skills through project-based, outdoor education.
We are looking for a passionate and resilient Enrichment Instructor to join our team, delivering meaningful off-site experiences that broaden horizons, raise aspirations, and connect learners with the wider world.
Important Requirement
Applicants must be 25+ years old (for minibus insurance), have held a full UK driving licence for at least 2 years, and maintain a clean licence. As part of the role, you will have access to a company enrichment vehicle.

You’re confident managing challenging situations, value teamwork, and place safeguarding and learner wellbeing at the centre of everything you do.
What You’ll Do
Lead Enrichment Experiences
Plan and deliver a wide range of off-site activities- from creative arts and music to outdoor adventure, environmental education, and community-based projects.
Create Meaningful Learning Opportunities
Design and deliver curriculum-linked, project-based experiences that promote autonomy, curiosity, and real-world learning.
Promote Safety & Safeguarding
Carry out dynamic risk assessments and ensure all activities meet safeguarding and safety standards.
Support Learner Development
Encourage social growth, resilience, independence, and self-advocacy through engaging and supportive experiences.
Collaborate as a Team
Work closely with colleagues, families, and external professionals to create a holistic learning environment.
Contribute to Programme Development
Develop resources, support curriculum innovation, and help shape enrichment opportunities across the school.

• Experience working with learners with complex needs and challenging behaviours
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Confidence delivering creative, engaging, and adaptable learning experiences
• Ability to lead and support outdoor activities safely in all weather conditions
• A proactive, organised, and reflective approach to your work
• A resilient, positive attitude and strong commitment to safeguarding
Desirable Experience
• Background in outdoor education or Forest School settings
• Experience with SEMH, ASD, and/or PDA learners
• Knowledge of behaviour support strategies and interventions
• Experience working with external agencies or community partners
• Practical skills in areas such as bushcraft, sport, or outdoor adventure activities
