Doddiscombsleigh Community Pre-School is a small but growing Charity run Pre-School set in the heart of the Teign Valley, just 7 miles outside of Exeter.
Our small but passionate team, are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, hardworking Deputy Early Years Leader, to complement and work collaboratively with our current Leader in the setting.
We are looking for candidates who have an excellent understanding of the EYFS and who are able to apply this (including the legislative and management requirements) to lead the setting with confidence. Candidates will hold a high level of responsibility and will need to demonstrate their ability to hold these responsibilities with the utmost professionalism.
Teamwork is at the heart of our Pre-School ethos. Every member of staff is valued for their unique contribution regardless of the position they hold. We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about the Early Years and who can confidently and compassionately support staff to develop their skills so we can continue to provide the very best care for our children. They will also be required to work closely with our Trustee’s around all aspects of Pre-School life.
We pride ourselves on the close relationships we have with our families and see this as a way of supporting our children to be happy and safe while in our care. The new candidate would be expected to share our commitment to this and actively work on developing parent partnership.
This role comes with training and support. It would be perfect for someone who is a qualified level 3 Early Years Practitioner, who is looking for a leadership opportunity. Our pre-school is set in the grounds of our local primary school and we are fortunate to access a variety of facilities due to this arrangement.
Our Pre-School is currently open during term time, Monday - Thursday 8am -5pm. Our core Pre-School hours 9am - 3:30pm are offered to all our 2-4 year olds.
Our breakfast and after school provision is open for children aged 2-11 years old. This position is permanent and part time between 15-30 hours per week. Working hours and days will be negotiable with the current pre-school leader.
We are looking for candidates who:
- Hold a full and relevant DFE approved early years qualification at level 3 or above, and preferably hold relevant leadership experience in previous early years roles
- Sound knowledge of the EYFS and safeguarding is essential as well as having the necessary personal skills to lead a team of professionals and ensure the setting meets the standards outlined in the EYFS
- Applicants will have basic IT skills and be comfortable with using or learning to use online systems such as ‘Tapestry’
- Current Paediatric First Aid, safeguarding training and Food Hygiene are an advantage; however, training can be arranged
- Applicants will have the communication skills needed to work in harmony with our current pre-school staff and committee of trustees to ensure the safe and effective running of the pre-school
