Devon County Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Database Officer to play a pivotal role in supporting positive outcomes for young people across Devon. This is a key Management Information role within the Post‑16 Learning Participation Team, helping the Council meet its statutory duties for tracking, analysing and reporting on young people’s participation in education, employment and training.
Key responsibilities include:
Database and System Management
- Administer and maintain database systems supporting the Post 16 Learning Participation Team, including CRM, Bulkdata and IO systems.
Statutory Returns and Data Processing
- Ensure database structures and reporting tools support NCCIS statutory returns, including:
- Monthly XML submissions to DfE.
- September Guarantee tracking for Year 11 and Year 12 cohorts.
- Annual Activity Survey for post-Year 11 destinations.
- Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET) and ‘Not Known’ status reporting.
- Stay updated on NCCIS guidance and implement changes to meet evolving requirements.
- Collaborate with colleagues to validate and prepare datasets for submission.
Data Integration and Reporting
- Process and prepare bulk data sets for upload from sources such as Excel and CSV using SSIS, MS Access, and flat imports.
- Develop and deliver professional reports using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and Power BI.
Technical Support and Collaboration
- Provide technical support for data provision and storage systems across the team.
