Some moments in teaching stay with you forever.
A child proudly writing their name for the very first time.
The excitement of discovering something new.
The quiet confidence that grows when a child realises, “I can do this.”
At Ide Primary School, we believe these moments matter. A village school with a big heart. We are looking to appoint a class teacher for our Year 4/5 class who shares our commitment to knowing children well, building strong relationships and holding high expectations for every child.
At Ide, our staff truly know children as individuals. We place great importance on understanding each child’s strengths, needs and interests, and on developing positive, trusting relationships with families. Our children are kind, curious and proud of their school, and staff work closely together to create a calm, caring and purposeful learning environment.
Ide Primary School is part of Exeter Learning Academy Trust (ELAT), a small and supportive group of schools who work closely together. Being part of ELAT provides excellent opportunities for mentoring, induction and professional development, particularly for Early Career Teachers, alongside the chance to share ideas and good practice with colleagues across the trust – while retaining our strong village‑school identity and close‑knit community feel.
We are looking for a teacher who:
- Has a relational, child‑centred approach, placing wellbeing, belonging and positive relationships at the heart of classroom practice
- Believes passionately in high expectations for all children, ensuring every pupil is supported and challenged to achieve their very best
- Enjoys teaching in a mixed‑age class and values the opportunities this brings (experience is helpful but not essential)
- Is reflective, committed to their own professional learning and keen to work as part of a supportive, collaborative staff team
- Values strong partnerships with parents and carers and understands the importance of working closely with families
- This is a great opportunity for an early careers teacher
In return, we offer:
- A welcoming village school with a strong sense of community
- Children who are happy, thoughtful and eager to learn
- A caring, experienced and supportive staff team
- A commitment to staff wellbeing and professional growth
Visits to the school are warmly encouraged. Please contact the school office on 10392 259964 or email admin@ide.devon.sch.uk to arrange a visit or a phone call with the headteacher.
The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, this role involves directly working with children and significant contact with children, and therefore we expect all staff and volunteers to share the same commitment. Applicants will be required to complete satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check for this post prior to commencement.
