We have an exciting opportunity to join our Children and Families Service in North & Mid Devon within Children's Social Care, where you’ll make a meaningful impact of the lives of children and families. The key purpose of the role is to improve the outcomes for our most vulnerable young people and families in Devon to encourage positive change.
What you'll be doing?
As a Team Manager within the Children and Families Service, you will draw upon your experience and expertise in order to facilitate your team’s continual personal and professional growth. You will embed a high-performance, collaborative culture through reflective supervisions, and in doing so, achieve the best possible outcomes for our children, young people, and their families. You will provide oversight on all our children and young people, ensuring quality standards are maintained whilst championing restorative practice.
Our Children and Families Service works in a highly challenging, yet highly rewarding environment to manage child-in-need and child protection cases as well as cases in legal proceedings and looked after children. Working together with children and their families, we use restorative practice to achieve positive, long-term and sustainable outcomes for all. Building happier, healthier and safer environments for children and young people in Devon is at the heart of our service and to achieve this we develop supportive partnerships that encourage and empower children and families in unlocking their individual strengths and values.
Skills and Experience
As a Team Manager, your skills and experience will include:
- Experience working within social care, including working in a multi-agency environment
- Strong leadership and management skills; effectively leading teams, with the ability to develop and support individuals, promoting an environment of continuous improvement where everyone can achieve their potential
- The ability to build effective professional relationships with children, families, and other professionals, leading to successful outcomes for children
- A social work qualification and registration with Social Work England
- Satisfactory completion of your Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE)
- A high-level of written and verbal communication skills*
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of the legislation, models, and theories relevant to children’s social work
- Exceptional recording and planning skills
- Ability to make difficult decisions
- A valid UK driving licence and access to a car*
