This is an exciting opportunity to join North Devon Against Domestic Abuse, part of the Devon Domestic Abuse Alliance (DDAA), as an Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) based within Devon County Council's Children's Front Door. Working at the heart of safeguarding, you will play a key role in ensuring adult victims of domestic abuse and their children receive timely, specialist support while helping professionals understand and respond effectively to domestic abuse.
About the role
As the Children's Front Door IDVA, you will work as part of the Children's Front Door safeguarding team while remaining a valued member of the DDAA Children & Young People Team. You will provide specialist domestic abuse advice, undertake risk assessments, develop safety plans, and advocate for victims to ensure they and their children are kept safe.
Working collaboratively with Children's Services, housing, police, health, and other partner agencies, you will influence safeguarding decisions, coordinate support, and ensure families can access the right services at the right time. You will also deliver domestic abuse training to professionals, present cases at MARAC, and support clients through criminal and civil justice processes where required.
This varied role combines direct client work, multi-agency partnership working, and professional consultation to improve outcomes for families experiencing domestic abuse.
About you
You will have experience supporting victims of domestic abuse and a strong understanding of risk assessment, safety planning, and trauma-informed practice. You will be confident working in partnership with professionals, delivering training, managing a caseload, and advocating on behalf of survivors within safeguarding systems.
You will be passionate about keeping children and families safe, empowering victims to make informed choices, and ensuring the impact of domestic abuse is recognised within safeguarding practice.
We recognise that no candidate will meet every element of the person specification and welcome applications from people with transferable skills, relevant experience, and a commitment to supporting families affected by domestic abuse.
To apply, please email admin@ndada.co.uk with a completed application form.
Closing date for applications is 21st August 2026.
