Do it For Devon. We are looking for a Family Practitioner for a fixed term or internal secondment for 12 months within our Assessment & Intervention Team covering Exeter & East Devon.
About the Role
Fixed term or internal secondment for 12 months (37 hours per week).
Our Family Practitioners play an important role in our Assessment and Intervention service. With the main goal of working towards reducing the need for children to be taken into care you will provide skilled intervention and practical help to families in crisis, offering long-term support where needed.
You will be part of a small team delivering early and effective services to families with a complexity of needs, collaborating with other professionals within a defined geographic area.
About You
You will be confident in building strong relationships with children and families to encourage positive change through hands-on help, support and guidance. You may work with families have previously resisted intervention so a persistent, tenacious and assertive approach is essential.
You will have a professional and positive attitude and will work in line with statutory obligations when working with families, You will champion restorative practices and foster a collaborative culture, promoting reflection and learning within the team.
Due to Devon’s rural nature and the size of our localities, our Family Practitioners often travel between visits so you’ll need access to your own reliable transport (subject to reasonable adjustments as per the Equality Act 2010).
Key skills and experience include:
- Experience working in social care, particularly in multi-agency and court environments
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to build effective professional relationships with children, families, and colleagues
- Proficiency in IT skills
- Excellent recording and planning abilities
- A valid UK driving licence and access to a car (exceptions may apply under the Equality Act)
