Assistant Head of Estates - Ted Wragg Multi Academy Trust
- Exeter, Devon
- Full Time
- Grade I: £46,143 - £49,283 (depending on experience)

Location: Based in Exeter with requirement to travel around Devon and Plymouth
This isn’t just an Estates role, it’s a chance to shape the environments where thousands of young people learn, grow and thrive.
At the Ted Wragg Trust, we believe that great schools are built on more than great teaching alone. Behind every successful classroom is an estate that is safe, compliant, resilient and ready for the future. This role sits right at the heart of that mission ensuring our schools are not just maintained but designed and managed to support excellent education and strong communities.
This is a rare opportunity to operate at scale, working across a family of schools while taking ownership of some of the most complex and high impact areas of estates management. You will lead the Trust’s approach to PFI contract management, acting as the senior operational voice in how we manage performance, risk and long-term value across six schools. You will represent the Trust in strategic conversations with Devon County Council, ensuring our schools are both well served and strongly advocated for.
But this role goes beyond contracts. You will play a key part in delivering a forward looking estates strategy, supporting the planning and delivery of our capital programme and helping to ensure our buildings continue to meet the needs of growing communities and keeping a clear line of sight on risk, performance and opportunity.
We are looking for someone who can move confidently between strategy and delivery, someone who understands the detail of compliance, contracts and capital but never loses sight of the bigger picture. You will be a trusted advisor, able to translate complex estates challenges into clear, confident decisions that balance risk, cost and impact.
You will also be someone who builds strong relationships, enabling collaboration, using influence and having the confidence to challenge when it matters most. Whether resolving issues, improving performance or shaping future plans, you will play a key role in ensuring our estates function continues to mature and improve.
At the Ted Wragg Trust, people come first. As part of an ambitious and inclusive organisation, you will have real autonomy to shape your work and make a visible difference every day not just to buildings, but to the children and communities they serve.
You’ll also be supported to grow. Through the Ted Wragg Institute, you’ll have access to high quality professional development and leadership opportunities because we believe those who create great environments for others should be supported to thrive themselves.
If you are motivated by making a lasting difference, thrive in complex, high impact roles, and want to be part of something bigger than a single organisation, we’d love to hear from you.
