We are one of the larger locally based organisations that collectively make up The Wildlife Trusts. DWT has pioneered the reintroduction of beavers in England and the restoration of internationally rare habitats like Culm Grassland.
The Working Wetlands project is one of the largest natural catchment management schemes in the South West to improve water quality and build the resilience and sustainability of 8 major catchments across Devon as part of South West Water’s Upstream Thinking programme. The programme has wide-reaching, positive impacts on the environment - increasing biodiversity, reducing energy use, contributing to Water Framework Directive compliance, improving carbon sequestration and reducing the risk of flooding.

The project focuses on achieving land management, forestry and farming changes in targeted locations, working with private farm businesses, public sector organisations and others. You will provide advice across the Upper Tamar Catchment and the Dart catchment, working closely with the other Working Wetland project’s Tamar Advisors and Dart Advisor, West Country Rivers Trust and the Working Wetland project’s Water Quality Advisor.
The project is funded by South West Water.
In return for your hard work and dedication, you’ll enjoy a wide range of benefits including:
