Are you someone with a can-do attitude who is motivated and looking to find a role in a friendly and supportive team at Devon County Council? If so, you could be the person we are looking for to join our growing, busy team who arrange non-emergency patient transport for eligible people, registered with a Devon GP, to attend hospital appointments both locally and across the country.
Patient Transport Advice Service (PTAS) are working in partnership with NHS Devon and Devon Partnership Trust to ensure those people who need support are enabled to attend medical services on suitable and safe transport.
In this role you will be speaking daily to patients, their carer’s, NHS professionals and DCC colleagues to source information regarding the patient and ensure we have all the details we need to assess their eligibility to NHS funded transport.
For those not eligible for NHS funded travel, you will give information and advice on transport options (including public transport) to enable patients to make their own safe travel plans.
As well as the transport booking and advice functions, you will be involved in various projects, meetings, reporting, hospital visits and training.
Experience of working in a busy office environment with frequently changing demands, and an ability to prioritise the most urgent workload and multitask is essential.
Excellent IT skills and good telephone manner are essential. You will be using a range of Microsoft systems including Teams, Outlook, Excel, and SharePoint as well as bespoke systems for transport provision. You will be receiving phone calls via a call management package and issuing contracts, processing invoices, and checking queries.
PTAS can accommodate agile working, with a combination of working from home and in our office at County Hall (Exeter), in line with the needs of the service.
For training initial training purposes, you will need to be available to work in the office daily. After that, there is a minimum requirement to be in the office at least two days a week and attend for training and meetings as required. You will also take part in visits to hospital sites across the county.
