We're looking for resilient and experienced HR Advisers to join our Operational Casework team within the People and Culture Directorate at Devon County Council.
These are temporary part time vacancies within our Operational Casework team (1 x 0.9 and 1 x 0.6 hours per week or 1.5 total FTE). We are happy to consider applications from applicants seeking full or part-time hours for these temporary vacancies.
The team has a strong operational presence, providing advice and guidance on many HR and employee relations issues across Devon County Council and to schools. Demands are high due to the challenges the Council currently faces, but this provides the opportunity for HR Advisers to work in partnership with our customers to enable them to pragmatically, resolve their HR issues, which can be complex, and support them in delivering crucial services to our communities and schools.
The role requires highly effective communicators, who are customer focused, able to manage a caseload or strategic project, work autonomously and flexibly, as well as part of a team. We are seeking enthusiastic HR Advisers who can fit quickly into our existing team and can offer a range of HR experience and knowledge. Experience of working with local government, schools or NHS terms and conditions would be helpful, we want to hear from you whatever your HR background.
Who you are:
We are seeking highly skilled and knowledgeable HR professionals with tested experience of delivering HR solutions effectively as part of a team. Applicants should be able to demonstrate the following:
- Self motivation and purposefulness
- Highly effective, research skills with ability to interpret and to apply organisational objectives
- Focussed attention to detail with the ability to analyse and effectively harness HR data, whilst exploiting the use of technology efficiently.
- Can benchmark and manage market analysis to effectively inform decision making
- Customer focused with excellent interpersonal, communication skills, that can build effective relationships
- Think creatively, turning ideas into productive outcomes
- Strong written and verbal communication skills that fosters understanding
- Collaborative working with Trade Union colleagues to achieve pragmatic outcomes
- Are consummate communicators and negotiators
- Able to work with agility to support changing demands
