Fostering Devon wishes to appoint independent people as Panel Members to the Devon Foster Panel and also a Panel Vice Chair. The Panel meets three times per month, and is currently virtual. We would welcome applications from candidates with a knowledge of Foster Panels and Fostering Regulations, together with the proven ability to participate in complex meetings. People from social, educational or nursing/health backgrounds would be particularly welcome. Candidates will also need access to and be comfortable using the relevant technology required for virtual Panels.
As an Independent Panel Member, you will need to be able to attend virtual Panels, approximately every two months, or sometimes more frequently depending on availability of other Panel Members. You may also on occasion be required to attend a ‘face to face’ Panel.
As an Independent Panel Member your responsibilities will include:
- To prepare for Panel meetings, reading Panel papers carefully, identifying key issues
- To take responsibility for participating in the making of a recommendation on each case, drawing on both personal and professional knowledge and experience.
- To safeguard the confidentiality of all Panel papers and Panel discussions.
- Your role will be to perform as an Independent Panel Member and to advise the Panel Chair and Panel Advisor when appropriate.
The remuneration for this role is;
Panel Members: Half day £80 / Full day £120
Vice Chair: Half day £100 / Full day £160
Included in this fee is the preparation time, attending the Panel and ensuring the accuracy of the minutes following the Panel. Reasonable travel expenses are covered at the Local Authority rate.
