An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Team Manager position in the North and Mid Devon Mental Health Social Care Team.
The mental health social care service operates in Devon Partnership Trust, delivering a Care Act 2014 service to those individuals with mental health conditions.
The teams are made of a variety of social care professionals, including Social Workers, Social Care Assessors and Accommodation Officers. All disciplines within the team promote a person-centred and partnership approach to ensure we achieve the best possible outcomes for all adults and their carers, within our locality.
The team sits within Core Mental Health services across the area, delivering a truly integrated approach to meeting an individual’s health and social care needs. It is a busy team and case work is varied, often requiring us to be flexible.
The North and Mid Devon team supports individuals across Barnstaple, Bideford, Ilfracombe, Tiverton and Crediton and the successful applicant can work out of an office space convenient to them within this area.
The social care pathway in Devon Partnership Trust is nationally recognised. Furthermore, there are around 200 Social Workers practicing across Devon Partnership Trust in a variety of teams and an established structure in place to promote the Social Work and Social Care identity.
Team Manager:
The Team Manager role is a great opportunity for someone who wishes to further develop their skills, knowledge, and experience in management within the mental health adult health and social care sector. We would particularly welcome experienced health and social care managers/applicants looking to develop their knowledge of mental health services.
The Team Manager role has key responsibilities including line management and supervision of multi-disciplinary practitioners and management of workload, resources, and budget for the service. The Team Manager role is challenging, and the successful candidate will be expected to manage competing demands and various work streams, often under pressure.
The role will require you to manage a team of practitioners who undertake varied caseloads which include care and support needs assessments, mental capacity assessments, safeguarding enquiries and at times court work. You will supervise practitioners and support them to promote independence and apply an asset-based approach which seeks to optimise opportunities for people to reduce and delay their need for formal care and support. You will have experience in safeguarding adults as the Team Manager will lead safeguarding enquiries in accordance with organisational policy and guidance.
The successful candidate will be supported by their locality Health and Social Care lead and work alongside other Mental Health Social Care managers across Devon Partnership Trust to promote best outcomes for adults within the community and stepping out of hospital.
Devon County Council has a flexible working policy. Currently a combination of office based and home working arrangements are in place, in line with Devon County Council guidance. Due to the large geographic and rural nature of this area you will need to be able to drive and have access to transport.
