Shirwell is a beautiful, small, traditional, village school, situated less than 5 miles from Barnstaple, with enthusiastic and friendly staff. We are looking for a Teaching Assistant to work in a mixed aged KS2 class. The class has a number of pupils with special needs that need support but you should be prepared to be involved in all aspects of teaching and learning. The school has a strong ethos of outdoor learning, therefore duties will include supporting the children both within the classroom and the outdoor environment. The position is to start in September 2023, however you could take up the position in the Summer term if you are available.
The post is linked to SEND pupils and therefore is dependent on their continued attendance at the school and/or funding received, as such it is temporary, however we assume this will be an ongoing position.
You should be flexible and prepared to involve yourself in all aspects of a small, friendly, rural school, including children with SEND. You should have an enthusiastic and resilient manner, excellent communication skills, be able to think creatively and demonstrate a positive, calm and encouraging attitude.
Hours are 8.45am - 3.30pm (Monday - Friday) with some flexibility, if required, for the right candidate.
