We are looking for a teaching assistant to join our friendly team from 5 September 2022, initially on a fixed term contract until 31 August 2023.
The working hours will be 8.45am - 3.30pm with half an hour for lunch and a tea break of 15 minutes, Monday - Friday.
Ide Primary School is a village school located on the edge of Exeter. We have a strong and caring ethos which runs through the community, underpinned by our values of kindness and respect, teamwork, curiosity and individual best.
Our children love learning and we are looking to find staff who will work closely with teachers to get to know the children, giving energy and commitment to each child to help them to reach their full potential and feel good about their strengths.
We hope to find staff with the ability to calm and nurture children, providing positive behaviour management, emotional support and encouraging their wellbeing.
Confidence in the application of English and Maths skills will be needed to support children of all abilities. We can support the successful candidate to develop curriculum knowledge, however a good basic knowledge of the National Curriculum and/or Early Years curriculum will be very useful.
Experience of working with children with SEND would be an advantage, but is not essential. All of our support staff roles include working inclusively and flexibly to provide the whole class, small group or individual support in partnership with class teachers and pre-school.
We believe in professional development for all staff. You will have the opportunity to attend training and work collaboratively with teachers and other teaching assistants across the school to develop your professional practice.
Although we are a relatively small school, we like to keep at the forefront of curriculum development and give our children the most exciting opportunities possible on a local and national scale; over the past couple of years, we have achieved the “Gold” school games award, performed Henry V at the Phoenix in Exeter as part of the National Schools’ Shakespeare Festival and had our artwork displayed at the National Gallery in London. We are currently working towards the Rainbow Flag award as part of our ambition to be inclusive for all, and we have recently been selected to have our Lego design for a house of the future displayed in the RAMM museum in Exeter over the Summer 2022.
If you have outside interests or passions that you would like to share with the children at Ide, we would be very glad to hear about these.
Ide School are part of the Exeter Learning Academy Trust and the successful candidate will benefit from the training and opportunities from shared work and development across our schools which we offer as a trust.
Exeter Learning Academy Trust (ELAT) is a partnership of primary schools based in Exeter. The Trust currently has four schools: Alphington Primary School, Bowhill Primary School, Ide Primary School and St Thomas Primary School.
We are a people-focused organisation with strong principles of enabling every child and adult within our Trust to thrive. We have high aspirations for all our children, regardless of their starting point, and, in turn, expect our staff to have high aspirations of themselves. We believe that our strength lies in working together and using our collective skills and expertise to benefit the children in our schools.
Visits to view the school will be welcomed.
If you would like any further information, an informal conversation or to arrange a school tour, please contact Alice Purcell, Headteacher at Ide Primary School, on 01392 259964 or email@example.com.
