The Village Schools Partnership is a federation in northwest Devon committed to high quality education in rural primary schools. We are appointing a full time teaching assistant to work in a mixed Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 Class at Buckland Brewer Primary School. The role includes specialist one-to-one work with SEND children as well as some duties within the mainstream classroom. This is to start as soon as possible and is a fixed term appointment for four terms at NJC Grade C, linked to a named child.
We are looking for candidates who are passionate about providing excellent rural education for our children with exciting first-hand learning opportunities, high expectations for behaviour and learning and a commitment to work as part of a team. A good understanding of SEND in young children, and in particular ADHD, is essential.

Our successful candidate will:
- Have experience working as an SEND teaching assistant or in another primary education- based role
- Be able to work with a degree of autonomy alongside one to one children, making decisions and adapting to changing needs
- Be able to use a range of strategies to engage and maintain a child’s learning within predictable and supportive approaches
- Engage with a relational approach to build strong, empathetic relationships with children
- Work well as part of a team in class, school and within the wider Village Schools Partnership
- Have patience, sense of calm and a good sense of humour

This role requires the ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.
