Belong School Devon are seeking an outstanding science practitioner to join our school in Exeter, who demonstrates a passion for improving academic outcomes though dedication and high-quality teaching and learning.
You should have experience of raising attainment through high quality, bespoke teaching and support. You should be a team player who is dedicated to improving the lives of our vulnerable children, many of whom are also supported by external agencies. Our children are mixed ability however many have missed years of school through poor attendance for one reason or another so catch-up sessions are paramount and will form part of this role.
You will be working in an inclusive environment where safeguarding students’ wellbeing is at the heart of our practice. Our vision is to create a sense of belonging for our students. As such, we are becoming a trauma informed, restorative school, highly adaptable to support our children and their families. The work we do actively changes lives.
Belong is a small, independent specialist school for students with SEMH needs and offers a competitive independent salary. All our students have EHCP’s. Typical class sizes are 2-3 students, with a maximum of five in a class and often with additional adult support. You will be delivering KS3 and GCSE subject content to years 9 to 11 both on the school site and through community teaching. A typical teachers teaching hours are 15-20 hours across the week, and you will have additional duties such as work with students in the community and travel for this, targeted interventions and CPD to enable you to best support the needs of the students.
We also welcome applications from strong NQT’s who can demonstrate that they have successfully raised attainment and outcomes for their pupils.
Standard hours are 1265 over 195 days, however, flexible working hours could be available for the right candidate Additional responsibility points may be possible for the right candidate.
