About The Role
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic teacher of Ethics to deliver high quality lessons across the key stages from September 2024. If you are an excellent classroom practitioner, who is flexible, dedicated and passionate about delivering exceptional learning experiences, then we want to hear from you.
We require an individual who can help build upon the success of the department and teach a student focused curriculum that allows our pupils to achieve their best possible outcomes. A willingness and enthusiasm to teach other humanities subjects would be an advantage, as part of a flexible and dynamic faculty.
The successful candidate will become part of a progressive team, who are constantly at the heart of developments to promote excellence in the classroom. There is a very decisive shared approach, where everyone feels supported and works as a coherent and highly energised department.
At Key Stage 3, topics taught include Faith in the modern world, Sikhism, Creation, Suffering in the World, Animal Rights, Radical Jesus and, in Year 9 Life after Death, Human Rights, Islam, Buddhism and Holocaust. At GCSE, the department follows the AQA Modules of Christianity and Islam, Thematic, Crime and Punishment, Peace and Conflict, Religion and life, relationships and family.
We welcome applications from high quality practitioners to join Paignton Academy. The successful candidate should have Qualified Teacher status and have an up-to-date knowledge of developments in Ethics. The post would equally suit an Early Careers Teacher or experienced teachers looking for their next challenge.
At Paignton Academy, we seek to develop all students, both academically and socially, as well as culturally and emotionally. During their time at Paignton Academy, we will ensure that students receive excellent teaching and learning within a highly disciplined but supportive environment, so that they have the very best opportunity to be their best self. More than this, we also develop a deep sense of social, civic and personal responsibility within our students.
We set very high expectations and focus on areas such as kindness and community whilst ensuring that good work, citizenship, progress and attainment is always formally recognised and celebrated throughout the school.
