Required to start as soon as possible (although is flexible for the right candidate).
Life Chance is keen to appoint a passionate, resilient class teacher to work at the School for Inspiring Talents (SfIT).
Our school is an independent therapeutic day schools for pupils aged 5-16 years. All of our students have trauma, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE’s) and have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. They all have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP’s) and therefore require specialist support. As a result of their needs and experiences, they may display challenging behaviours at times. We are therefore looking for a special teacher who can care and nurture our unique cohort of students, whilst engaging and inspiring them with exceptional learning and teaching that breaks down barriers and challenges with high expectations.
Our ideal candidate will be, or aspire to be, a middle leader who can help model and create a culture of empathetic nurturing and reflective practice with a determination for outstanding provision, embodying our school motto to ‘Be the best we can be’. We would like them to take on subject leadership or lead an area for development within the school, championing our trauma informed approach, aligning closely to our core vision and values. They will be a team player who is proactive and positive, understanding the SEND needs of our students, holding in mind that all behaviour is communication. We are looking for a teacher who puts our students first in every aspect of school life.
Our school is split over two sites, one in Newton Abbot and one in Ashburton; and to ensure that we find the right candidate for our team, this appointment could be at either location or for any Key Stage. Unfortunately, this role is not suitable for an Early Career Teacher, due to the element of middle leadership we ideally wish to seek and the need for experience in working with students who have complex needs. However, we welcome applications from teachers with a background in mainstream or special education, from those returning to the profession or who are earlier on in their career journey and feel they have the capability to do more and be a changemaker!
As an organisation, we place a strong emphasis on staff wellbeing and understand that being a teacher, and being a teacher at our school specifically, working with some of the most vulnerable students in our locality, can be tough. We aim to provide supervision for all staff and have an excellent employee wellbeing offer and benefit scheme. This includes private medical insurance, NEST pension, bespoke events and more.
Please visit our website and watch our film to see how we make a difference to young people’s lives.
Visits to our school to meet our team and students are welcomed and strongly encouraged. Please contact Scarlett Guest by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange a tour or with any further queries you may have.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff to share this commitment. This role requires an enhanced DBS disclosure.
Please download the application form below and, once completed, return to email@example.com.
Please apply by 9am on the closing date.
Please note that in the case of a high volume of candidates applying, only successful candidates that have been shortlisted to interview will be contacted.
