We are looking to recruit 3 Specialist Support Assistants from across any locality in Devon to work as a member of the SEND Support Teams alongside Advisory Teachers and within schools alongside school staff.
You will be responsible for supporting access to learning for all learners identified as eligible for support.
Main duties and responsibilities:
• Under the direction of the Specialist Advisory Teacher to provide direct support to learners within the schools setting.
• Work alongside school staff through modelling/coaching to develop skills, understanding and confidence to implement recommended strategies and develop fluency in the delivery of support
• Supervise the activities of individual or groups of learners to ensure their safety
• Actively engage in educational activities and programmes of study
• Assist in the personal, social and emotional development of learners
• Support the learner in gaining access to the curriculum
• Assisting in the promotion of independent learning skills
• Monitor individual learner progress, achievements and challenges, reporting these to the school staff and advisory teacher as appropriate
• Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all learners
• To liaise sensitively and effectively with parents, carers and partner agencies/professionals, as appropriate
