Assessment Social Worker
An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced Social Worker to join Adopt South West, a regional adoption agency formed from the adoption services of Somerset, Plymouth, Torbay and Devon. The post is a full time 12-month fixed term contract to cover maternity leave. The successful candidate could be asked to work in any of the Adopt South West region.
Social workers in the assessment teams are responsible for the recruitment, training, and assessment of prospective adopters. Once prospective adopters are approved you will support them through family finding and attend adoption panel for approval and matching. You will also be required to provide early placement support to the adopters.
Responsibilities will include;
- Undertaking PAR assessments to deadlines
- Undertake work with agencies both locally and nationally to identify suitable adoptive families.
- Supporting Approved Adopters through linking and matching
- Providing Early placement support
- Delivering training and workshops.
- To comply with adoption legislation, guidance, national minimum standards and departmental policies.
- Maintaining accurate case records
Within this role the work is varied and rewarding. You will need to have experience and understanding of adoption work and have gained experience of social work within children and families.
You’ll have strong interpersonal skills to successfully liaise with other authorities and adoption agencies across the UK. You will play a key role in early placement support until the Adoption Order is made.
There will be opportunities within this role to contribute to the development of the service we offer to adopters and children as we continually review our services.
Please note, flexible working hours, travelling and some working out of the county may be required.
