Located on the stunning Jurassic Coast and with the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty close by, Exmouth Community College is one of the largest secondary schools in the country with over 2300 students.
The College is seeking to appoint an organised and efficient Science Technician to work within a team of five Science Technicians who are spread over two sites.
In accordance with the practices and procedures of the College, Technicians ensure that a safe, effective and efficient laboratory technical service is provided for the use of students and teaching staff. The postholder will provide technical advice and assistance in the classroom, to support students and assist teaching staff with learning activities.
Key responsibilities:
• Preparation of practical requirements for lessons on both sites as requested by Science teachers including setting up of demonstrations, checking apparatus and equipment is functioning correctly, maintaining adequate supplies of apparatus and solutions and clearing away at the end of the lesson.
• General laboratory maintenance, restocking and organisation.
• Repair and maintenance of apparatus and equipment.
• Care and maintenance of plants and animals as necessary.
• Maintain resources and photocopying.
• Wash up and clean sinks and laboratory surfaces.
• Place orders and check deliveries and invoices.
• Liaise and cooperate with all members of the Science Department and immediate colleagues in developing new courses and assisting with other projects.
• Any other duties commensurate with the grading of the post and as required to assist the Lead Science Technician.
