Belong School Devon is seeking to appoint an outstanding individual with drive, enthusiasm, and ambition to join our team as a Schools Maintenance Operative. We are looking for someone with the knowledge and experience to drive forward the development and maintenance of our new site in Exeter.
Belong School Devon is an independent special school for pupils aged 11 to 17 from across the county. Our approach to learning is built around our vision of enabling all our students to become thriving, successful adults.
We work with young people and their families to develop learning strategies to overcome individual challenges and meet Education Health and Care Plan goals with our unshakable belief that with the right support, every pupil can learn, grow and thrive.
This position is a full time or part time, permanent role, to start as soon as practicably possible once all recruitment checks are fully complete. The ideal candidate will have the practical skills and experience to complete the majority of the site maintenance themselves.
We require a degree of flexibility to adapt to the needs of our students, the learning environment, and business of a thriving school site. The ideal candidate will be forward-thinking and keen to support the development of the site as it continues to evolve.

Ability to commute/relocate:
- Exeter: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
Experience:
- Experience in practical, maintenance or construction roles (essential)
- Strong organisational skills (essential)
- A willingness to commit to further training and CPD (essential)
- Specific trade skills (desirable)
- Experience in a role where safeguarding is paramount (desirable)
