The post is temporary due to budget restrictions.
We are seeking to appoint a skilled, experienced and dedicated SENCO to join our hardworking staff team, who are passionate about providing the best possible educational opportunities and provision they can for all pupils, including those with SEN.
You will work as part of the SLT, under the guidance of the Headteacher, and will lead SEN provision across the school, so that those children receive the equity and support needed to make progress, thrive and reach their full potential.
This role will involve but not be limited to:
- supporting class teachers with delivering universal, targeted support, and specialist support as needed, within a graduated response
- managing and leading Teaching Assistants to support learning at universal, targeted and where necessary specialist support
- leading, organising and ensuring the necessary training of staff in appropriate areas of SEN.
- managing the SEN register, leading and supporting staff with identification of SEN and in-school planning and reviewing of these plans, and producing reports on the attainment, progress and success of these pupils
- working with and assessing pupils in small groups, and 1:1 with individuals as needed.
- meeting with the parents and carers of children with SEN
- liaising with multi agencies as required, and contributing to, and leading, Team Around the Family meetings and ensuring safeguarding policy and procedure is followed at all times
- completing EHCP request and reviews as required, including leading Review meetings and process in-line with statutory frameworks
- further develop the Learning Support Hub within school, so that there is a base from which those children with SEN can be best supported
You will be reflective; have good communication skills; and be able to demonstrate a clear desire for making a difference to all children in their care. You will also be able to demonstrate their abilities, as an experienced SENCO, either having been awarded the NASENCO or having been working as a SENCO in a school before September 2008. They will also be someone who is able to lead a team, but also be able to work as part of a team, in order to achieve strategic outcomes, aligned to the SDP, and linked to the ethos and vision of the school.
In addition, you will need to demonstrate an ability to be patient, understanding and responsive to the needs of children in their care, and the staff they are leading. They must be able to build positive relationships with all stake holders and motivate those around them so that all children in SEN can be as successful as possible.
