  • Multiple Locations
  • Multiple Terms
  • £8,658 per annum

Do you love working outdoors? Do you want to have a positive impact on children and young people with SEND?

Ellen Tinkham School is seeking to appoint a confident, flexible and energetic Rural Skills Assistant to join our Rural Skills team for 3 days per week (9am - 3.30pm) during term time.

As a busy, vibrant and innovative special school, we are committed to our mission statement:
Everyone will be the best that they can be.
Everyone has a voice.
No one is excluded.

Through our Rural Skills sessions, we work to engage students in meaningful learning outside of the traditional classroom setting, providing a wide range of practical activities. Examples include woodcraft, forest skills, bush craft techniques, outdoor cookery, pottery, horticulture and animal care.

If you have the relevant skills and knowledge to expand on our current repertoire that will enable us to increase the experiences and opportunities for the learning and development of our students, then we would love to hear from you.

You will be motivated, practically minded and have a working knowledge around safe and appropriate use of hand tools and must be willing to assist in practical site works when not working with pupils (small animal care, splitting wood, cutting grass, moving materials etc). Flexibility and an ability to adapt to changing priorities is essential.

Ellen Tinkham School is an “Outstanding” special school catering for pupils with severe and profound and multiple learning difficulties.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults, and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
