The Deaf Academy has an exciting opportunity within our Children’s Home for an experienced manager either already within the Deaf residential care sector or who wishes to build on their experience and develop both Deaf and BSL skills. If not already held, sponsorship will be provided to achieve BSL level qualifications up to Level 3 and the Level 5 in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare.

About you
With the responsibility for our beautiful four bedroom home in Exmouth which specialises in supporting Deaf young people, you will be a proven leader and will support our team of Residential Support Workers in providing warm and nurturing care.
Your strong leadership and management skills will enable you to manage a busy workload whilst ensuring that the outcomes for children and young people are front and centre of everything you do. You will share our absolute commitment to safeguarding children and young people and demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of child protection, risk management and working with external services and professionals.
We are looking for an innovative individual who can take the home to the next level in providing outstanding care and developing an outstanding team.
You will have a keen eye for detail as well as excellent skills in quality assurance and improvement. A very good understanding of the Children’s Home Quality Standards and Regulations is essential to the role, as well as exceptional reporting and presentation skills.
The children and young people we support are Deaf but also come with additional complex needs. Although you may not have worked with Deaf young people before, you will be committed to learning British Sign Language and have extensive knowledge of the needs of children and young people in care.
The role will be challenging and fast paced but very rewarding and with a positive, solution focused approach as well as creativity and a willingness to be hands on, you will transform the lives of the children and young people within the home.
