Personal Assistant to the Deputy CEO - Cornerstone Academy Trust

This is an exciting time to join us at Cornerstone Academy Trust with its schools based on the edge of Exeter in East Devon and in the coastal town of Barnstaple in North Devon. The Academy Trust has a national and international reputation for its outstanding and innovative education and its schools are highly sought after. We are responsible for a number of Department for Education ‘centres of excellence’, working with other teachers and schools across the country to provide professional development and support with school improvement strategies.

We are wishing to recruit a Personal Assistant to support the Deputy CEO for the Academy Trust to help him manage his varied and demanding schedule in both supporting the schools within the Trust and our DfE Hubs. The Deputy CEO is also the Head of Education and is responsible for the quality of education that is provided in each school. He leads a team of school leaders and works closely with the CEO to manage the Trust. This requires him visiting each of the schools regularly, working with key staff to self-evaluate the schools’ performance, to report to the Standards Committee of the Trust board as well as to the Full Trust Board each month.

This role will be fast paced and varied with no two days being the same. You will work closely with others within and outside of the Trust to ensure delivery dates are met, meetings are organised and provide administrative support as necessary for such things as setting agendas, recording minutes and providing presentation materials or reports. You will be part of a wider team of administrators and assistants within the organisation and will need to help co-ordinate the priorities for the senior leadership team within the Trust. You will also liaise with parents and help to escalate their queries when necessary.

You will need to be extremely personable and have excellent communication skills both on the telephone and face to face. We need an inspiring and dedicated team member who will bring additional flair and efficiency to our highly regarded team. We want someone who will bring organisation skills to the role as well as having a liking for accuracy, planning, analysis and reporting. It is essential that the post holder has excellent and demonstrable competency in the use of IT, specifically in the use of Microsoft365, including up-to-date experience in the use of Microsoft Teams, Outlook, OneNote and Excel. You must have a great work ethic and a “get the job done” attitude.
