The Parking Services team are responsible for considering and replying to appeals against parking fines and administering on street residential parking permits. We are seeking to recruit an additional Notice Processor to our core team, as our role will be expanding to include enforcing moving traffic offences as well as parking offences in 2025.
The role would best suit an applicant with knowledge of working in the Highways service area or experience of working in an enforcement role, but applicants with previous customer service or customer relations experience would also be welcomed.
Whilst most communications with the public are in writing, this is very much a customer facing role and requires good interpersonal skills when communicating on the phone, by email or by letter.
Knowledge of the Traffic Management Act 2004, the Council's Traffic Regulation Orders, the Data Protection Act, and Equalities & Disability Legislation is required.
Our ideal candidate will be an outward thinker, have an eye for detail, strong analytical skills, be a team player whose is comfortable working alone, and able to meet fixed deadlines.
Resilience, a common sense approach and ability to communicate using plain English is a key skill required when dealing with our customers, some of whom can be challenging or requiring special considerations arising from their circumstances.
Full training on considering appeals and permit application evidence will be given as will training on use of the software used to manage the parking fines, and new digital permitting system.
Our office base is at Great Moor House on Sowton. Our core office hours are Mon - Fri, 8.30am - 4.30pm. Staff are expected to attend the office on a weekly basis as part of agile working, mixing working from home and the office as required by management. Willing to discuss some flexible working.
