Highweek Community Primary and Nursery School is seeking to appoint an experienced, enthusiastic and inspirational Nursery Manager to join our dedicated Early Years team.
This is an exciting time to join Highweek as we continue to develop our vision of academic excellence and opportunity for all within an inclusive environment. Our thriving nursery currently provides high-quality education and care for children aged 2–5, and we are excited to be expanding further with the opening of our under 2s provision in September 2027.
Working alongside and supporting the EYFS Lead, you will play a key role in the day-to-day leadership and development of our nursery. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Early Years professional who is passionate about providing outstanding care and education and is ready to take the next step in their leadership journey.
About the role
As our Nursery Manager, you will support the EYFS Lead in creating an inspiring, nurturing and stimulating environment where every child can thrive. You will work closely with the Early Years team to maintain high standards of teaching, learning and care while ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the nursery.
You will have a secure understanding of child development and the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and be committed to ensuring every child develops the confidence, curiosity and resilience needed for lifelong learning. You will lead by example, supporting colleagues to deliver exceptional practice and ensuring children receive the very best start to their education.
Key responsibilities
- Support the EYFS Lead in the day-to-day leadership, management and organisation of the nursery
- Take the operational lead during school holiday provision, ensuring the safe, effective and efficient running of the nursery, including the organisation of staff, activities and children's welfare
- Support the nursery team in delivering high-quality teaching, learning and care for children aged 2–5
- Help to plan, implement and evaluate an ambitious, engaging and inclusive EYFS curriculum that meets the needs of all children
- Ensure smooth transitions across the Early Years provision, including between the 2-year-old provision and Nursery
- Monitor and assess children's progress, identifying where additional support or intervention is required
- Coach, mentor and support staff to maintain high-quality practice and promote continuous professional development
- Build strong and positive relationships with parents, carers and external professionals
- Assist with staffing, rotas and the efficient day-to-day running of the nursery
- Maintain the highest standards of safeguarding, welfare, health and safety
- Contribute to the continued development and future growth of our expanding Early Years provision
What we're looking for
We are looking for an experienced, innovative and nurturing Early Years practitioner who:
- Holds a relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification (or equivalent)
- Holds a Level 4, 5 or 6 qualification in Leadership and Management or a childcare related discipline or working towards this
- Has substantial experience working within an Early Years setting, ideally including provision for 0-2-year-olds
- Has experience in a leadership role, such as Deputy Manager or Nursery Manager
- Has an excellent understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and child development
- Has a proven track record of planning, assessing and monitoring children's learning and development
- Has experience of supporting staff, organising rotas and contributing to the effective management of a nursery
- Holds a current Paediatric First Aid qualification or is willing to undertake the training
- Has excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills
- Is passionate about inclusion and ensuring every child receives the very best start to their education
- Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
