To provide full line supervisory management to a team of care assistants and housekeeping services staff.
To provide care and support to service users with differing levels of need and dependency.
The role requires that the team leader ensures that the team of care assistants and housekeeping services staff on shift delivers care in a sensitive and person centred way, placing the Service User at the forefront of the care given. The care and support will be varied, ranging from moderate forms of support through to complex and detailed care pathways, requiring well developed skills.
Team Leaders are expected to ensure that the care assistant team and housekeeping services staff work in a unified and flexible manner to deliver excellent quality services. Post holders will be expected to participate fully in compiling and reviewing of service user care plans, moving and handling plans, risk assessments and other related documentation involved in the service users care needs.
Main duties and responsibilities:
- To ensure the care need of all service users is delivered as per assessed need within the individual care plans under the direction of the Deputy Manager.
- To ensure that care and services are delivered in accordance with the requirements of care quality commission (Care Quality Commission (CQC)) standards under the direction of the Deputy Manager.
- To ensure that prescribed medicines are administered in accordance with care quality commission (Care Quality Commission (CQC)) and Royal Pharmaceutical Standards
- To be responsible for supervising Care Assistants safe administration and assistance with medication administered in accordance with care quality commission (Care Quality Commission (CQC)) and Royal Pharmaceutical Standards.
- To be responsible for the full line management including supervision, appraisals and development of care and housekeeping support staff on a day to day basis
- To ensure service users admissions and discharges are managed effectively.
- To work in a way that ensures vulnerable service users are safeguarded.
- To regularly liaise with other agencies professionals, including care management staff and residential unit staff
- To contribute to records that ensure compliance with care quality commission (Care Quality Commission (CQC)) Standards and DCC policies which may include the use of lT.
- To maintain the safety and security of the premises, staff and clients using them To promote compliance with health and safety and the Health and Safety Act 1974.
- To report any issues of concern to line manager and relevant authorities as required and without delay.
- To oversee the general running of the service in the absence of the deputy manager.
- To participate in the training of new staff as part of the Induction process.
- To attend and contribute to meetings as necessary.
- To be involved in the recruitment of care staff.
- To carry out any other duties which fall within the broad spirit, scope and purpose of this job description.
