Location: The Old Deanery, Exeter, EX1 1HS, with scope for home working.
We have an exciting opportunity for a focussed and passionate individual to join our friendly team as the Net Carbon Zero Officer. In this role you will be responsible for strategically enabling the Diocese of Exeter to achieve its ambitious goal of being Net Carbon Zero by 2030.
The role will involve leading on our delivering Diocesan Net Zero Action Plan, to enable all in-scope areas to become NCZ. You will be working closely with multiple Diocesan teams, including Property and Finance; the Diocesan Environment Working Group; Bishop’s staff team and other National Church of England networks. The ideal candidate will have initiative, drive, excellent organisational and communication skills, and will be able to confidently work with IT systems and data. You will be positive and passionate about reducing carbon emissions, addressing climate change and communicating the theological basis for this. This role will evolve as we progress towards Net Carbon Zero and will provide plenty of opportunities for technical and personal skill development.
The Diocese of Exeter is currently operating a hybrid pattern of office- and home-based working, the normal place of work will be diocesan offices, combined with some home working. There is the expectation of occasional travel throughout the county of Devon, very occasionally on evenings and at weekends.
