Location: Geographic focus supporting groups in South & West areas of Devon (Hybrid working with Plymouth base).
We are seeking an exceptional, dynamic individual with welfare/safeguarding experience to join Active Devon and help make sure the movement is a positive experience for people of all backgrounds.
About us…
Active Devon is a community focussed, not for profit organisation with a vision of everyone in Devon active for life. We know the benefits of being active are life-changing, helping to reduce inequalities and delivering huge value in our communities. We hope that you will want to join us in making movement a positive part of people’s lives, whatever their background.
What you’ll be doing…
This Welfare Manager role is part of the recently established national network of Sport Welfare roles, created by Sport England. The role is aimed at supporting club welfare officers within local sports clubs, and National Governing Bodies (NGBs) to promote good practice and safe sport for children, young people and adults.
The role will identify development needs and provide support to local clubs and NGBs, both collectively and individually where necessary. It will also develop and strengthen relationships between key stakeholders, operating within both sport and statutory/non-sport safeguarding contexts. The role does not have formal case management responsibilities but will support the effective reporting and referral of safeguarding cases and may support resolution of lower level concerns.
What experience you’ll need…
The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong fit with Active Devon’s values and combine a passion for the role of physical activity and movement with proven experience in a welfare and/or safeguarding role. This could be within a voluntary or paid, sport safeguarding context. We also welcome applications from those with professional experience in a statutory or non-sport safeguarding role who are looking to apply their skills in a different context.
This is a fantastic opportunity for people with excellent relationship building skills and a passion for helping people. These will be allied with proven project planning and implementation skills. The role would suit ambitious, values driven professionals looking to take their success and personal growth to the next level and join a highly regarded community focussed organisation. It also provides a unique opportunity to shape new local approaches during the foundational period of the new network.
What you’ll get in return…
As well as the opportunity to work as part of an energetic and vibrant team, the successful candidate will benefit from:
- Generous salary with defined benefits (career average) pension scheme
- Flexible working scheme
- 26 days annual leave entitlement (pro rata)
- Various active workplace initiatives
- Access to an employee benefits programme, including a cycle to work scheme
