Marland is a successful all age (KS1-4) special school for students with Social, Emotional and/or Mental Health (SEMH) needs. It is located across four sites; Peters Marland, Barnstaple and Central Bideford and has just opened a new 'Secondary Day School' (Yr7-Yr11) in East of the Water, Bideford for 40 students. This post will be based at Peters Marland Torrington.
The overall Marland group of schools are currently graded as 'Good' by Ofsted Education, with the residential care provision separately judged to be 'Outstanding' by Ofsted Social Care inspectorate. Our overarching ethos is based around personalisation and meeting the needs of each individual child. We utilise 'THRIVE' based social and emotional development at the core of everything we do.
The postholder will be able to offer a flexible and proactive approach to learning, within the community and at the school. This will include delivering or facilitating these high quality learning opportunities through a broad range of off-site and on-site sessions. The curriculum will be aimed at developing the social, emotional and subject skills of each student, including self-esteem, risk assessment and management, teamwork, interpersonal and leadership potential. This will be achieved through a varied outdoor learning / experiential programme.
Training and ongoing professional development opportunities are offered to all staff, as are potential promotion opportunities due to the ongoing expansion of our popular schools.
