You will join us on a full time, 12 month fixed term contract (37 hours per week) and in return you will receive a competitive salary of £33820 - £36298. The role is office based, but there is the availability of flexible and / or home working, which can be discussed and agreed with the successful applicant.

About the role:
As our Information Governance Officer, you will play a key role within the Service’s Information Governance Framework. This role is responsible for championing effective information management and being an ambassador for all associated disciplines within the specialist function of Information Governance. The role consistently upholds and reinforces best practice to deliver and embed organisational improvement and cultural change.
Key responsibilities of the Information Governance Officer:
• Acting as a primary point of contact for Data Protection, the Freedom of Information Act and Environmental Information Regulation queries and requests for information.
• Playing a central part in managing the Information Security Management System (ISMS) and Personal Information Management System (PIMS) in line with HMG Security Policy Framework and providing assurance on Service compliance.
• Managing the security event reporting process, assessing risk and likelihood, investigating the event, recommending mitigating actions and escalating to the Information Governance Manager as required.
• Facilitating the process of Information Risk Impact Assessments (IRIA) to help inform new projects, development and procedural change, embedding a privacy by design culture within the organisation. Completing Data Protection Impact Assessments as and when needed and escalating unmitigated risk to the Information Governance Manager / DPO
• Managing the Service’s data protection and cyber security training platform. This includes preparing tailored training packages and simulated phishing attacks to measure organisational maturity.
• Managing information requests under the Freedom of Information Act, Environmental Information Regulations and the Data Protection Act/GDPR.

What we are looking for in our Information Governance Officer:
• A degree in a related specialist discipline or equivalent experience.
• FOI & EIR and GDPR Practitioners Certifications (ISEB/BCS or equivalent other).
• Demonstrable knowledge of the HMG Security Policy Framework associated policies and ISO 27001
• Substantial experience working effectively at a practitioner level within at least one information governance discipline (information security, records management, or information compliance)
• Experience in trend analysis, evaluation and report writing.
• Demonstrable experience in managing GDPR, FOI and EIR requests within compliant timescales.
• The ability to interpret legislation and comprehend complex decision notices from the ICO and tribunals.
