An exciting opportunity has arisen for a positive, driven individual to join the Client Financial Services team as an Income & Assessment Manager, leading the Income & Debt Team.
This key role will be based at County Hall, Exeter, with the ability to work in a hybrid way, and will support the team across a range of responsibilities to provide an efficient and effective service to the Authority.
About our Service
We provide a charging assessment and billing service to adults accessing social care services through Devon County Council. We continually review how we work in order to provide high quality and expedient support to our clients and colleagues. Our customers may be vulnerable and often face a broad variety of challenges, so we work closely with Adult Social Care colleague and partner organisations to support people we work with and ensure that they are treated with dignity and respect.
Working alongside the Manager of the Assessment Team, you will support the ongoing performance management and development of the Income & Debt team, optimising the collection of charges and working to reduce aged debt. The role will also support a number of key projects to maximise business efficiency and improve customer experience.
About the role
Your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Leading and managing the Income & Debt Team, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and Council policies.
- Providing robust advice to clients, budget holders and team members on charging debt matters.
- Supporting projects/tasks across the Service.
- Work closely with colleagues across the Council to optimise charging collection rates and ensure people accessing services are able to receive the appropriate support to manage their finances and mitigate the risk of debt.
- Proactively seek opportunities to reduce charging debt to the Council and identify and support the delivery of efficiencies in the service.
About you:
- You will be an experienced manager with excellent performance management and interpersonal skills.
- Have a strong understanding of debt management and associated legislation and practise.
- Have excellent numeracy skills and be able to work accurately with an attention to detail.
- Have excellent communication and problem solving skills, and be able to communicate complex financial matters to a broad audience, including vulnerable adults.
- Have extensive knowledge of MS Office software, with advanced Excel skills, and experience with financial software.
- Be committed to delivering a quality service.
