Secondment Opportunity - 6 Months
Full Time, 37 Hours Per Week
We are looking for a Social Worker to join the County Disabilities Team for a secondment opportunity. The County Disabilities Team are a Devon county-wide social care team that work with adults of working age, between 18 – 65. The team were set up as part of the Disability Transformation Programme and the nature of our work changes depending on what the current priorities and focus of the Disability Transformation Programme are at the time. The core aim of our team is to promote independence for those we work with by using the best possible practice.
We are looking for a Social Worker who is committed to person centred and holistic case management where eligibility of need and significant impact on wellbeing is a key element in the support planning process. You must be able to understand the concept of working in an asset-based approach alongside a commitment to promote independence. You will achieve this by linking into available resources such as the Social Workers and Occupational Therapists in the team and the positive relationship the team has with its health partners.
You will have experience of assessment and care planning in a social care setting and be committed to looking for innovative solutions to meeting people’s needs by considering an asset-based approach to explore what support is available within the local community and promote assets based assessment and support in peoples communities;

The County Disabilities Team is primarily home based, with the option to work from your nearest Devon County Council office. The County Disabilities Team also have a dedicated office in Exeter where printing facilities and administration support is available.
Peer Support and Team Meetings are held once a month, currently via Microsoft Teams. You will receive an induction to the work, monthly formal supervision, informal support, and appraisals.
